Events and Competitions

With collegiate-level competitions occurring more and more frequently in North America, we often send a competition team to represent our organization. At a collegiate-level competition, we compete in events such as Mass-Casualty Triage (First Aid), Rope Rescue, Firefighting, Bench Technician (maintenance of life-support equipment such as Drager BG4s), and a practical mine rescue scenario (typically an Underground Mine Rescue challenge with First Aid and other technical skills).

As a student-led club, our competition team is entirely composed of current members – with team-dynamic and merit-based membership system. Everyone has earned their place by specializing in one or more major aspects of mine rescue, and they work well as a team. The potential to join the competitive team(s) is open to anyone who regularly attends practice.

Competitions, such as IMERC 2024 in Squamish, BC, are excellent opportunities for professional networking and making unique university memories.
